In addition the IMBB is evaluated every 5 years together with all the other Greek research institutes that are supervised by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (Ministry of Education). The last research assessment exercise by the GSRT took place on 12-09-2005 and employed international thematic committees composed of non-Greek scientists. The 2005 evaluation was organized, as always, by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology and took place this summer. The IMBB received a 4.9/5.0 grade placing it at the top position of Greek research Institutes (report).
