IMBB

Microchemistry Laboratory

General Information

The Microchemistry Laboratory (ML), which started its operation in 1988, is an applied unit of the IMBB. It was set up as a facility lab to cover the needs of the research groups of the IMBB in oligonucleotides. These needs increased rapidly. Subsequently, the ML took the initiative of supplying various hospitals and research groups throughout Greece with its oligos. Today the ML is the only facility of its kind in Greece, having an excellent reputation for the quality of its products and services. It covers a substantial fraction of the national oligonucleotide needs. The olingonucleotide synthesis is implemented on two Model 394 and one Model 391 DNA synthesizers (Applied Biosystems). The purification of the oligos is done with an HPLC Waters, 625 LC System. Future plans include the expansion of the MLŐs activities into DNA sequencing and peptide synthesis.
