EcoLab RESEARCH EQUIPMENT
The lab is well equipped for molecular biology, protein purification/analysis and protein biophysics. Main pieces of equipment include:
-3 complete FPLC systems and 3 low pressure systems equipped with UVM/UV2 monitors, fraction collectors and various chromatography media, prepacked columns etc. (Amersham Pharmacia)

-1 Model 491 PrepCell (BioRad) preparative electrophoresis gel system

-1 HPLC system (LC10A-VP) equipped with a SPD-M10AVP photodiode array detector and a Peltier thermostated column chamber (Shimadzu). The system is connected to a PC running Class-VP5 data acquisition and a Size Exclusion Chromatography analysis module.
-1 two dimensional electrophoresis system (IPGphor; AmershamPharmacia),

-6 BioRad Miniprotean gel electrophoresis systems with western blotting attachments and multicasting chambers

-1 BioRad semi-dry and 2 wet western blotting apparati
-1 Cary Eclipse Fluorimeter (Varian) equiped with a Peltier temperature-controlled four position cuvette holder, a microplate accessory, a SFA-20 stop-flow kinetics accessory (Hi-Tec) and a PC runing the Varian Bio package

EcoLab COMPUTING
We use Apple Macs for computing and PCs for data collection and specialized applications. All computers are connected through a 1Gbit Ethernet network to the EcoLab server (WinXP-Server on an HP box) and to the IMBB server (MacOS X10.2). We currently use:

We run a great variety of general productivity (e.g. Safari, Canvas, iCal, iSync, Keynote, FilemakerPro, Contribute, Office, Parallels) and specialized software (e.g. Enzpack, GraphPadPrism, EndNote, NIH Image, SwissPDBviewer, RasMol, Origin, VectorNTI, MatLab, Astra, Aida etc.)
