Mission

The Department of Systems & Networks is dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art IT services
that ensure a reliable, secure, and high-performance digital environment. Its mission is to provide
the technological backbone that supports the research, educational,
and administrative activities of IMBB. By combining robust infrastructure with expert support,
the department enables researchers and staff to focus on innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence.

Core Services & Infrastructure

Data Storage Infrastructure

• Four (4) Synology NAS storage systems, each with a capacity of 80 TB.

• Configured for high availability and data redundancy, ensuring continuous access and protection of critical research data.

Server Infrastructure

• Twenty (20) enterprise-grade DELL servers.

• Deployed with VMware virtualization, enabling optimized resource utilization, scalability, and efficient workload management.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Enterprise-level Veeam Backup & Replication platform.

• Provides automated backups, disaster recovery plans, and data integrity assurance to safeguard institutional resources.

Network & IT Services

• Comprehensive support for core institutional services, including:

  • MAIL, WEBMAIL

  • VPN (secure remote access)

  • PROXY, DNS, DHCP

  • WEB HOSTING (CentOS & AlmaLinux platforms)

• Services tailored to meet the diverse operational, research, and administrative needs of IMBB.

Internet Connectivity

• Primary backbone: 10 Gbit/s fiber-optic link via GRNET (EDYTE).

• Backup link: 1 Gbit/s via Vodafone, ensuring resilience, redundancy, and uninterrupted access.

Network Equipment

• Cisco routers and firewall systems for secure traffic management.

• Huawei enterprise switches at distribution and access layers, delivering high throughput, advanced segmentation, and reliable performance.
