Οι κύριες ερευνητικές μου δραστηριότητες επικεντρώνονται στη μελέτη των μοριακών μηχανισμών που είναι υπεύθυνοι για τη γήρανση και στον προσδιορισμό των μοριακών μονοπατιών που συνδέουν τη γήρανση με τον νευροεκφυλισμό. Δίνεται έμφαση στη διερεύνηση των επιπτώσεων της γήρανσης στους φυσιολογικούς μηχανισμούς της αυτοφαγίας καθώς και στη σχέση ανάμεσα στην αυτοφαγία, τη γήρανση και τις συνοδές παθολογικές καταστάσεις. Η πειραματική μεθοδολογία εστιάζει στη χρήση του νηματώδη Caenorhabditis elegans ως οργανισμού - μοντέλο.
