The IMBB Animal Facility is a partner in the Greek node of the InfrafrontierGR/Phenotypos project: for phenotyping and archiving of model mammalian genomes ( www.infrafrontier.gr ). With available funding from the INFRAFRONTIER program and the IMBB, we further upgraded our infrastructure by: i) relocating/upgrading our High level SPF unit ii) installed an air shower and cage/bottle washer in our SPF unit iii) upgraded our transgenesis & cryopreservation unit with a new microscope unit, micromanipulators and electroporator iv) hired two new staff members and v) we are currently completing the set-up of our Institutes’ new mouse behavioral, electrophysiology and in vivo imaging laboratories.

The University of Crete, in collaboration with the IMBB Animal Facility hosted the 5th consecutive International Course on the «Care and use of laboratory animals». The course is designed to train participants on the care, handling and regulations involving the use of animals for scientific purposes.
