ASC proneural transcription factors in embryonic neurogenesis

We find that ASC activators regulate a plethora of genes involved in different aspects of neuroblast homeostasis and this is indispensable for proper neural stem cell functionality and correct neuronal/glia progeny. Therefore, whereas the Notch pathway acts to single out the proper number of NBs from the neuroectoderm, proneural TFs ensure the timely onset of the NBs' transcriptional and cell division programmes. We are currently investigating TF network interactions and the chromatin states in hypo- and hyperplastic CNS models as well as the ASC activity in other that embryonic CNS tissues.
