The first IMBB Data Analysis Workshop was held from April 27 – May 8, 2026 at FORTH organized by IMBB Researcher Alexandros Pittis and supported by IMBB’s Mentoring and Career Track Scheme.
Designed as a hands-on, beginner-friendly, and interactive experience, the workshop introduced participants to Python, R, data analysis, and computational biology with no prior programming experience required.
Week 1 was led by Alexandros Pittis and covered Python fundamentals, Plotting & data exploration, Statistics and p-value logic, Enrichment analysis & dimensionality reduction.

Week 1 concluded with a BBQ, giving everyone the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and continue discussions in a relaxed setting.

Week 2 featured specialized sessions on Bulk RNA-seq analysis led by Christos Andronis & Electra Tsaglioti (Bioinformatics Unit), Single-cell RNA-seq analysis led by Ethan Baird & Vaso Theodorou (Delidakis Lab, Scentinel Project), ATAC-seq led by Orsalia Hazapis (Talianidis Lab) and “Bring Your Data” day — supported by various instructors.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, to all instructors for sharing their expertise and enthusiasm, and especially to all the helpers who supported the workshop throughout these two weeks. We look forward to future editions and to continuing to build a strong and collaborative data analysis community at IMBB!
