The IMBB-FORTH Bioinformatics Unit provides bioinformatics data analysis services and computational support to IMBB and external researchers, enabling the management, analysis, and interpretation of complex omics datasets.
Scope and services
- Primary focus on NGS datasets, e.g.: DNASeq, RNASeq (bulk and single-cell), and integrative analyses across omics layers.
- Analysis services: differential expression, transcriptome assembly and annotation, variant discovery (SNPs/indels), phylogenetics, pathway and gene set enrichment, and reproducible custom workflows with pipeline automation.
- Tools and platforms: development and maintenance of bioinformatics tools and web applications tailored to IMBB needs, with emphasis on containerized deployments.
- Visualization and reporting with reproducible reports.
FAIR adoption
- Ongoing effort to adopt FAIR principles to ensure data/metadata are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
Training and community
- Mentoring and hands-on training for IMBB lab members to build capacity in standard bioinformatics analyses and workflow proficiency.
- Per-project collaboration with students and postdocs to co develop analyses, transfer skills, and bring new expertise into the Unit.
